I've been changing several of my rifles over to Hammer Bullets and have some 143 Hammer Hunters on the way for my 280 Remington(24" bbl with 9.25 twist). I have plenty of RL16 and RL26 on hand and plan to start with RL16 since Steve said it "may really shine" with this powder and I trust his recommendations......but I'm just curious if anyone has tried RL26 in a 280 Rem?

RL26 is good with 150s and up - 61.5gr has netted 3150fps with 150gr partitions in a couple of .280 Rems.

RL16 will possibly be better with the 140's, I havent tried it however as I have a bunch of H4350 to burn up.

I'm shooting rl26 behind a 160 accubond in hornady brass out of a 280ai and getting 3060 and haven't gotten to pressure signs yet. Bartlien 8 twist cut to 24inches

I'll be pressure testing RL26 in my 280ai and 264wm today or sometime this week with Hammer Bullets....waiting on bullets to arrive to test my 280 Rem.

Got to the range and tested the RL26 in my 280AI and 264 WM....went to 67 grains in 280AI with 131 Hammer Hunters before saw pressure and slightly sticky bolt so backed off to 65 and had 7 shots average 3320 with ES of 17 but accuracy was poor(see pics).....going to back off another grain and try again. 264 WM showed pressure at 69 grains with 121 Heavy Hammers so I backed off to 68 and had 7 shot average of 3265 fps also with ES of 17 and groups of .631" and .756". I know this rifle is capable of better groups as I've shot sub .5" with VLDs and LRXs. I'm going to change primers and see if groups and ES tighten up any.

Pressure tested my 280 Rem yesterday with the 143 Hammer Hunters.....got pressure signs at 56 grains with RL16 and started seeing slight signs at 63 grains with RL26 and slightly sticky bolt at 65 grains. Loaded accuracy test loads with RL16 at 55 grains and 62.5 grains for RL26.....back to the range today and both loads shot around .5" with good velocity.....3037 for RL16 & 3111 for RL26.....ES is acceptable at 14 & 22 respectively. Both velocities are higher than I've been able to get with any other bullets including Barnes, Accubonds, and VLDs. Once again, Hammer Bullets prove how easy they are to work with!
