What do you consider long range? The .300 WM is my go to chambering for antelope to elk size game up to 1K yards (my self-imposed limit at this time). Your .300 WM is a great cartridge, esp. if your rifle is accurate!

The 7-.300 was my favorite cartridge for years. I also had a 7STW. Both had 28" barrels. They can use the same loads. The barrel using the Weatherby cases lasts a little longer; I guess because of the longer neck.

I used two loads. Nosler 150 grain Accubond, Federal 215, and IMR7828 @ 85 grians at 3,585 feet per second. The Nosler 175 grain ran 3,150 feet per second but I don't remember the powder charge.

Gary, with limited funds the 7mm Weatherby is not an option since it's only available in the Mark V=$$$$. The ballistics of the 7mmWby and the 7mmRM are very close. If you can't live with a 300WM, find a used 7mmRM. Like FEENIX stated, you are kind of all over the place on the 7mm.

have about 300 pcs on Winchester 300 magnum brass for the 700.i like it but I had a 300 weatherby 4 yaers ago.still have all the dies and about 100 pcs of brass.had to sell to a friend to make house payment.i may now be able to get it back for about 850 $
my wife now is doing better in her health and we got into the labadoodle buiesness.so we now are able to buy my gun back and get another one.this is why I ask so many ?s
also my long range area for deer is about 700 yards down a power line and ABOUT 850 YARDS DOWN A PIPELINE .

The 7mm-300 wby is NOT a factory offering in ANY firearm. it is NOT the same as a 7mm WBY...it is the 300 WBY necked down to 7mm, and it is the balistic twin to the 7mm STW. The 7mm WBY case is 2.55 inches long.....the 300 WBY, and thus the 7mm-300 case is 2.85 inches long. If I were to build a hot 7mm , this would be my choice since finding 7mm STW or 8mm rem mag brass is very difficult at this time.

As far as the OP.....see if you can't get your 300 Win Mag to shoot...it truly is a wonderful round!!!

Good luck,
Tod

^^^ What he said....
I had a 7-300 WBY that shot really well with the 162gr bullets, the heavily bullets weren't out then. I thought that by improving the case, I would get a more efficient burn. I put a 35* shoulder on the case and noticed little improvement. I then started shooting the 180 gr bullets. This still have this rifle, and it continues to ring steel at well over 1,000 yds.
Do not underestimate a heavy .284 bullet utilizing an efficient case design.
With that being said, it's not worth all that trouble, if you already have the 300 WM.
