I have a good friend that just got a 7mm Dakota built.

It has a 26" Douglas barrel 1 in 10 twist.

He is thinking of shooting 168 or 180 Bergers or Accubonds.

He has 4831SC and Retumbo.

Does anyone have any good load info or starting points for this.

My books don't show the Dakota in them.. time to upgrade I guess :)

thanks all...

Call Ward at Dakota Arms and he will send you the data you want. It will help you get started.

I use retumbo with a 200 WC.

7th Edition hornady has the 7 Dakota

162gr bullet for H4831 61.2-73.6

175gr bullet for H4831 59.6-73.4

Retumbo not listed as a powder for the 7Dakota. Hope this helps.

Len -board owner has had a couple of them i think ---maybe he doesn't like 7mmDakota's ???????????????????????????????????

Here is what he said -

Good day:
The heavy load for our 7mm Dakota generally consists of a 175 gr. Swift A-Frame or Nosler Partition. We would recommend starting with 70 gr. H-4831SC and moving up to about 73.5 gr. maximum. We prefer the Federal 215 primer with this load and an overall maximum cartridge length of 3.330".
I have never loaded the 168gr. or 180gr. VLDs for our customers so I don't have any load data for them.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
Ward
