morning, I have a barrel off a 788 rem. .223 cal. what action can

I have the barrel reinstalled. do not want to use a 788 rem action!

The threads on a Rem. 788 are 1"x20 tpi. Plus the length is not standard either so as a direct replacement barrel, I think you're out of luck. You might find a 20 tpi barrel but you are still left with modifying that barrel in order to use it. Plug it into an M788 or sell it to someone who can use it on another M788.
