700 Internal Tolerances?

This is for the "smiths" out there. When you are re-barreling a rem. 700 what tolerances do you leave:

- From the outside of the bolt head to the inside of the barrel recess?

- From the front of the recess to the front of the bolt?

- And, from the back of the barrel to the front of the bolt lugs?

Just curious if you all have a set standard or not and why it is what it is?

Depending on the location and use, I will use .005 minimum and .010 max.

Bolt to action= .001 to .002

Head space= .0005 to .002, depending on the shooter,type of action, type of cartrige and
intended use.

Some Smiths may have different tolerances but they are close to the posted minimum
clearances.

I have seen actions with a lot more clearances but these were just sloppy/poor workmanship
and are an indication of the total quality IMO.
