just a heads up to all members of the fraternity, i have had great sucess with using 6.5x55 winchester brass in my 6mm/.244 mauser. No trimming required, For a long time. My remington 700 did not like them. Tough extraction (extractor related)

That does not sound like a wise thing to be doing. The swede case is a lot different then the 308 in head size. Would it not be easier to just buy 6mm brass then hunt down swede brass.

The 6mm remington is based on the 7x57 mauser, not the 308.

Yes but the 7x57 is the same size head as the 308. I always thought the swede and 308 looked the same but they require different shell holders. A check with the loading manual showed a different size head on the swede.

The difference with the shell holder is in the extractor groove. 308win has only slighty smaller body/case head diameter.

I've made other cartridges in this length form 7x57 Mauser.

The dimensions are very close. A couple passes and some annealing do bring the neck down. Fire form, done.
