i just bought a winchester model 70 in .270win and im going to have a 26in 6groove 1-8twist barrel put on chambered in 6-06. i want to shoot 90gr or higher. i was looking at the 90gr swift bullets or the 105gr or 115gr berger bullets for hunting blacktail deer and antalope. does anyone have a 6-06 shooting any of these bullets?

I have a 6-06ackly. I shoot the 95gr vld. The gun has been used on 3 antelope 5 muledeer and one elk For the first 250 shots I was shooting reloader 22 57grs with federal 215 @3620fps. It shot great but for some reason it will not shoot now.

what barrel length are you shooting, also what twist and how many grooves? what action is the rifle. and are u setting the 95gr vlds right on the lands

I have a 243 Super Rock Chucker which is more or less a 6mm-06 AI. Mine has a 30" hart barrel with a 1:10 twist and will not shoot anything heavier that a 75gr bullet. I use H4381SC and am getting sub 1/2moa with 70gr SMK's at about 3800 fps.

I also have a 243 Super Rock Chucker and tried the 95VLDs from berger and actually killed a deer at 300yds with it (dropped her in her tracks) but i was not happy with the 100 yard groups (around 1 inch) so i switched to the 90 grain Bergers. I have a 1-10 twist and the 95s reccomend a 1-9 so thats why i switched. The 90s reccomend a 1-10. I used the Hornady V Max for several years which worked great on deer also. My brother shot a deer with the 243 SRC at 550yards with the V Max bullet. Dropped her. Reloader 17 and H4350 are both good powders for this calliber.

I've had a couple 6mm-06 improved rifles and shot both 105 amax and 107 sierra bullets with about 56-57 grains of Retumbo. this runs them about 3375fps.
