6.5 CM Hornady 1F brass (initial weight sorted) and 308 FGMM

Hey guys,

I bought about 1000 pieces of once fired (bolt gun) hornady 6.5 creedmoor brass. I initially weight sorted the brass and created two lots. I kept the larger lot myself, and will sell the other.

My initial weight sorting: I took 50 rounds of brass, weighed them, and observed two weight trends. I separated the brass into the two weight trends. One weight trend contained roughly 550 pieces and the other roughly 475. I kept the larger lot. And I'll sell the smaller lot. I believe there is between 450-500, however I am going to guarantee 400.

Also I have a fair amount of 308 Federal Gold Medal Match brass all same lot $140 per 500.

Would you happen to have any info on the stats of each batch? Standard deviation? Mean? Just curious because i haven't really taken the time to measure much hornady brass.

My sample size was 28 pieces (just what I grabbed). I tared on one piece of brass that weighed 9.974 grams (153.85 grains). Of the 28 pieces, there was a variance of up to 1.26 grains with the exception of three pieces which varied 2.83 grains (in my practice, I would cull these and use them for fouling rounds or isolate them and create another lot).

If this sample representative of the the rest of the brass there would be roughly 400 pieces weighing 153.85 grains (+/- 1.26 grains) and roughly 50 weighing outside of this variance window.
