6.5-284 Norma Load data

Misstep can cause problems....but...
Is there a way that 56gr 4831sc could shoot safely....
Just curious on this..but would lenghtening the throat make enough difference to allow 56gr to work....
I, myself, only got to 54.5 before ejector marks and slightly heavy bolt....

It's not very likely you can run 56gr. without generating excessive pressure. I suspect at 54.5gr you may have loose primer pockets after a few reloads. I have also found my best accuracy and lowest ES at 53gr-54gr of H4831sc.

I just received some JLK 135 vld bullets.
Do these bullets like jump in the 6.5-284?

I just finished load development for my first 6.5x284 recently using Lapua brass, 215s, 140vld-h, and rl26 & h1000. Both produced accurate loads. Best accuracy for me was right at the lands.

Rl26 sweet spot was around 54.7gr @ 3080fps.

H1000 was around 55.1gr @ 2970fps.

My new Lightweight 6.5-284, 22" #1 contour,Benchmark Barrel,
Fed 210M primers, 54.2, 54.3, 54.4grs R26 with 130gr Accubonds @ 2895, very accurate
Also liked 54grs R26, 143gr ELD-X @ 2860

Getting 2866 FPS with RL26 54.5 and Fed210m in a 25" Barrel 1-7.5 twist with Hornady 143 ELD X, Shooting in the .200 at 100 yards. I wanting same accuracy but higher velocity. Would like to get to 3000fps.

Maybe try RL23???

Brian

OK a few updates, new Lapua Brass, 2.9" coal, fed 210M, 140gr AB,, 22" barrel
54gr R26 2900fps
52gr R23 2840fps
53gr R23 2900fps
Im going to try some 140gr Bergers, 143gr ELDX,140grAB,130gr Sierra Game Changers at both 52 and 53 gr of R23

I'm sitting here reading over load data for mine and found this thread. I plan to hunt with it some this fall so I'm going to run a little lighter bullets...which I have not shot many of. 129's or 130's...long shots in my hunting area are 300 yards.

The last time I shot my 6.5x284 was March...dam 6.5 Grendel's been getting all the recent range time lately.

Just did a complete rebuild of my 20" barrel Grendel...new trigger, buttstock, receiver and upper. So that one will be getting more attention!

It never ends! One of them needs my attention continously!:cool::D:D

After loading both 142 and 129 lrab....there is a definite speed difference...but once out of the barrel and downrange they(on paper)or phone rather)) shoot very simular.....
Papua brass, 210 fed lrmatch, 55gr rl26....
142...2960fps
129...3120fps...
Correction.....sorry
129....3020...huge difference.....
