T/C Contender would also be my choice. Match Grade Machines (MGM) is a great place to have a quality barrel made. They will make it any length you need.
As to killing deer with a 45 ACP about 38 years ago I fed my wife and I with an old WWII Colt 1911A1 using my home cast 200 gr SWC and 7 grs Unique. We were pooooor and if I did not shoot it or catch it or raise it we did not eat it. I had a friend that had the loading press and dies and the RCBS bullet mold for 45 ACP that let me use them. For less than 5 cents I could put a deer in the freezer with that old Colt. I kept my shots under 50 yards and double lunged them. 45 cal. hole in and out and it let the air out of them quickly.

special interest arms has 40sw bolt action built on armscore 22tcm action the novem 9....16" and 12"...will 180 gr 40sw go supersonic in a 16" or 12" barrel? i have seen 200gr 40 cal...if this was in 45 acp id have one
