Anybody have or had one? I'm thinkin of doin one just to utilize the brass I have and get better barrel life than the 6.5. What is it capable of with the 185 or 190 grain bergers? Thanks ahead

I have no experience with it but just from looking at the case, I would assume it falls between the .308 Win and 30-06.

Why not just make it a .284 and shoot 7mm bullets?

Because currently the 7s are a tad harder to find. I like the 30 idea cause with a 308 and rl-17 I was gettin 2880 with the 178 amax and I'm thinkin with the bigger cause and 185 or 190 vld it'd be something wonderful but it's just an option. I'm probly just gonna do 6.5x284 again cause I like it and I have everything I need

The .284 case is a very strong. I would go with the .284 Win. GAP match the reamer is available from Midway. You can seat a Sierra 175 Match King out to 3.100 oal. That's what it was designed for. I have had different rifles in 6mm,6.5,30 and several in 7mm. The .284 with a long barrel holds its own with the .280 Ackley . The 7mm bullet I use is the 168gr. Berger VLD Hunting style. I am getting a MV. of 2,950fps. From a 27 1/4" SS barrel. Buy the way my load is Reloder 17 a charge of 51.5 grs and a WLR primer. The COAL is 3.120".gun)

Here in the Desert My hot weather load is 51.5 grs. In colder weather I use 52.5 grs of Rl.17. Both loads are Max. This fall I will be using either load depending on the weather. These are F.L. resized. The 52.5 gr. load is Necked sized. gun)

It,s been 25 years since I loaded the 30x284. But as I recall I used Hornady bullets ,180gr. Seated way out. Performance was like the 30-06.gun)
