I am sure this has been asked before, but I missed it.I have been loading berger 185 gr bullets in a 300 wsm using Reloader 17.I can not find any right now so is the next most popular one to try that's close to the 17.I read once that IMR 4350 is close .Has anyone tried it

IMR 4350 is my GO TOO powder to shove 180 gr. Sierra bullets for accuracy, and 180 gr. Nosler Partition is my big game load in the 300 WSM. Check Hornady's data they list loads for 190 gr. and 200 gr. for the 300 WSM with IMR 4350 also.

IMR 4350 is very close in burn rate to RL17. I wouldn't be surprised if you worked up a load with IMR4350 and ended up with exactly the same charge weight as your RL17 load. Don't expect the same velocity though. RL17 produces a good bit more velocity.

I often use IMR 4350 load data when RL17 data isn't available for a combo I want to try.

I have used both and found the RL17 to produce better groups out of a Savage LRH, however the Abolt likes the IMR4350.

With that said, I believe boith have about the same burn rate. I did experience some temp sensitivity with the RL17. It produced better groups when the temps were low and opened up some when the temps were higher.

I have had great success out of my Bansner custom 300wsm using 150grn. Hornady SST bullets, 62.5 grains of RL-15.

I also reloaded some nosler 150grn. ballistic tips with RL15 and have had the same results. I have taken several whitetail with those two rounds as close as 50 yards and out to 634 yards in Texas.

If you want the exact recipes I would be happy to share them as soon as I return home from vacation.

168 Berger classic hunter .016" jump.
66.3gr Imr4350. gm210m primers. 3140 fps.
Stock Savage 16fcss. I have page after page of groups under .4" 5 shot groups. One of the most consistently precise rifles I have. The only problem is that I bought it for the action for a .358 Grant Indiana legal barrel. My barrel will be here this week and I'm going to be pulling the barrel Thursday.

I've had very good luck with IMR4350. I've loaded from 165 gr. to 210 gr. bullets with it. I tried a few different powders and Imr4350 worked the best for me across the board. Never have tried Reloder 17. The Reloder powders are a little scarce around these parts. Anyways I couldn't be happier with my 300WSM.

Grizz, my hunting pal shoots the Berger 185 with H4350 in his Savage 111. The load is very accurate. He tries a couple of other powders, but H4350's what his rifle wanted.

I have used RL-17 in two 300WSM'S with good results, however it was with 168 Bergers. My gun likes IMR-7828 with the 185-190 grain Bergers. I have gotten very good accuracy and my velocity is 2950+ ft/sec..

I found a store with some reloader 17 so I did not do a lot of experimenting with the 4350.After moose season is over I will try some just in case this happens again. Thanks for the info.

Tikka T3 300 wsm
67.5 gr of 7828ssc
200 gr nosler partition
2.90 coal

3 shot at 100 yards.
First time I've tried this load. Gonna try a 5 shot next.
Did not chrono it but book says 2850ish.

Had great results with RL-17 but ran into temp sensitivity so I moved away from it.
