300 win 168gr berger vld load info???

Hi guys need help. My friend had shoulder surgery and wants to shoot his 300 win yet. He use to shoot 180 and up in it. Now worried about recoil he wants a bullet that weighs less and can go the distance. 700 tops. I picked up some 168 berger vld hunters for it. I have zero experiance with the 300 win so i was wondering if anyone has a go to load for this combination. Looking for any advice that i can get. The guy who use to do his reloads has moved and not reachable. Thank u for your time

I dont think the reduction in recoil from a 180 to a 168 is going to be that significant.

I would buy some ear plugs and a nice muzzle brake.
