I'm new to reloading for 243. I'm looking for a good bullet for deer that is accurate and does well on deer and occasional hog. 50-300 yards. What are yall shooting? Looked at ttsx, hammer bullets, game kings and eld-x. Any one have any suggestions or experiences. Or any other recommendations?

Also I'm shooting a tikka t3 what loads are y'all using? Powder? Sorry loaded question

I really like the 95gr Federal Fusions for an all around 243 hunting bullet.

I've killed a pile of deer with Sierra 100 grain soft point, boat tail or not. 100 grain Hornady worked just as well. Nosler 90's also shot well in my rifle. Use plenty of lube inside the neck so the expander ball does not alter shoulder angle on retraction from press. If it drags hard, wipe it off and try chambering it.

I took a doe with Hornady whitetail ammo yesterday. 100gr seem to do well. Just looking to get something just a little more accurate

The Hornady 95 grain SST is hard to beat in a 243 for whitetails. It holds up to the speed better than an ELD. H1000 is tops, H4831SC is second choice for me.

Inside 300 yards speer 90 or 100 grain flat base bullets they're cheap. They shoot well and they perform well on Texas size deer, yotes.

How is the accuracy with the sst. It's been years since I shot any and they were factory rounds.

Accuracy has been good to great, the factory Superformance 95 SST loads have also shot well for me and others. Handloaded with H1000 has been a hair faster than H4831SC but not enough to matter at all. Both of these powders shoot very accurately and consistently across huge temperature ranges, can't go wrong with either.

For about 55 years, our family and friends have killed a lot of deer sized game with 85gr Speers, 100gr BTSP Sierra and Speer, 95gr NBT and NPT and the original 105gr AMAX. Even a handful of the old 100gr Remington CoreLokt back when those were highly available for reloading and cheap by the 500 rd box.

95 SST, 95 NBT, and 95 TMK are all excellent choices, TMK being the newest with the highest BC

Hammers are excellent, you'll want to go extremely light for caliber, penetration will not be an issue. I'd look at the new 75gr HHT

Sorry I was referring to Hornady bullets, not their ammo. I don't shoot factory anything.

85gn Barnes Triple Shock and 45gn of Ramshot Hunter has worked in multiple 243's for myself and some friends. Kimbers, Winchesters, Savages, Remingtons, and 1500's from many of the importers (Howa, Wby Vanguard, S&W, etc.)

In a 22" bbl you'll be at or just under 3200fps, it's about 1gn under their max book load, but it's shot well in so many different 243's I've never worried about trying to eek that last bit of speed out of it. Hasn't seemed to matter what brand of brass (I've used Hornady, Lapua, Win, Rem, Sig, and Starline), nor has the load been fussy about which primers. I primarily use Win Large Rifle, but others have used Federal or CCI to similar results.
