I have had both and have stepped up to .17WSM. It betters the HMR in every measured category by a big margin. Several ammo Co's manuf. now and price is at or lower than .22mag. Winchester says it can take a yote to 300yds.

I have a 17 hmr n it does well but I just stepped up the game with a 17 hornet and I also acquired a 22 hornet from another member here n I'm excited to get the time to play with them n the main reason I decided to go that direction is they both are center fire n I can reload them n be in control of supply as long as I can get the primers etc n the velocities are excellent for both calibers IMO
