It's been confirmed. He did pass on.
An icon is gone! I talked to him on the phone a couple of years ago about a problem I had, he would answer questions and give suggections to all. A fine man, he will be missed.

That Cessna 172 needs an annual inspection, and ya then make those needed repairs to keep er airworthy. Shooters are the same, ride the bike, eat right, keep hunting, don't smoke or drink too much, keep groups small, live til ur 95. David Tubb, good guy, sadly he's just gone way too soon. RIP.

Very sorry to hear this. Godspeed David. Can't remember where I met him years ago. Maybe it was at a shoot in CT? He shared a lot of experience and knowledge with anyone who asked.
Dang... I can't remember how far back I "discovered" David G. Tubb. Over 20 years. He's who got me into precision reloading and shooting, indirectly. I called his shop on a few occasions and talked to him. I used his "sandpaper bullets" on my first couple of 6.8 rifles. They work, I just let the barrel mfg do it for me now.
He lived about an hours drive east and a little north of where I graduated High School (Borger) but I wasn't doing much shooting other than the plinking we did out on the back roads with .22's back then. He wasn't much older than me

I talked to him several times when I was putting my 6XC together yrs ago, a wealth of knowledge and was always will to help me. RIP "Big Tex", may the Heavenly Father welcome you home!

True Story: At the 2002 Nationals, Lee Land won the Wimbledon with a Tubb 2000 in 6.5x284. He won his relay with a 200-7X, then won the shootoff with 99-6X. Just prior to the shootoff, Lee had pulled the sling stud out of the forearm while slinging up. David fixed it at the range with a helicoil with about 30 minutes to spare. Wyatt Tubb and I pulled the target for Lee during the shootoff. We were giving about 4 second pit service (no B.S.), which allowed Lee to get off a shot that caught the 9 o'clock edge of the 9 ring right before a wind change. Everyone else shot 8s and 7s. After the match, we were all standing around and I thought David's face was going to split open from the smile he had. What a great day.
Good trivia: To this day, the target center has my blood on it from where I cut my finger on the cardboard while cutting out the center for Lee...you are welcome brother.
