Anyone took an sig cross out to 400 yards yet?
Thinking about one for a compact backpacking type set up for mountains in early fall deer and black bears (lower Appalachians foothills)
and dead winter Coyote work
I already load form the 243 win with good success
But looking for something sorta out of the box when compared to a Winchester mdl 70 or a
REM 700

I just got the cross in 308 with the 16 inch barrel and the precision stock and if the 243 is anything like the 308
Don't hesitate buying it!!
I'm just in the "break" in stage (something I do with Every new rifle I get, probably pointless but I've been doing it for 3or4 decades so it works for me😂)
So far the only thing I can see being a problem with a new cross or anything they put that folding stock on need a few rings of that spring that unlocks and lock the stock into and out of place
It's rediculous how stout it is and I would guess 99.9 percent of people who buy them will never "need" to fold it out of the way while they zip line out of Helicopter at 3am in a foreign country to take out a bad guy and get a good guy😁)
So
If you buy it make sure you know that all of
Your other rifles will be "useless" to the point of
why have them ( I'm joking of course well to some extent)
Let us know what you decide

good to know, im gonna keep my eye out for one, i have an ar setup that i use now, but after using it for a few months i wanna"tweek" things, and the cross looks like a hellva setup

i saw where they make one in .243 an i just wondered how bad the 16in would kill velocity, anybody have actual velocity data? with .308 or .243? i'd like to know what y'all are getting

Mine is great
Just got to play around with it to get the perfect fit for you and what your wearing when you shoot it
Mine will be used mostly in hunting boxes on a power line with 1k yards one way and 1k yards the other
So I will only needs to make it 1 inch shorter when cold weather comes and I'm wearing my heavy camo
To me it was worth the extra money for it
If they had the 243 with the precision stock for a 100 dollar more line they do on the 308 they probably sell about as fast as they could package them

the cheek piece doesn't look to comfortable on the trax, what is your experience with yours?

I own a 6.5 CM Cross and have no difficulty hitting steel out to 535. I really like the platform and would recommend it to anyone.
I too have the Cross 6.5 Creedmoor, and I love it. But as someone mentioned, you better have strong fingers, trying to depress the release to fold that stock. It can be....challenging.

It was me that said that about the stock it's absolutely ridiculous how heavy that spring is
I've had Many pick up trucks that the hood hinge springs were no where near that heavy and they lifted a 100 pound truck hood 😂

I have a Cross in 6cm, its a Proof steel barrel and shoots really well. There are several companies making barrels for them now. I had Shaw make me a 338 Federal, and used the barrel extension off the original 6.5cm barrel to set it up. The Proof is heavier than I'd like, but I did that for a fun gun to shoot from the bench, the 338fed is the light set up. Pretty cool system and a decent rifle.
