Vihtavouri powders, who is using it, and how does one get started using it??

Me experience with AERO has been good by calling the factory. I was looking for a lower that was listed as "sold out". I talked with a woman there who said they cannot keep up with their manufacturing. She told me that there was in fact a new batch in production and they should be hitting their site soon. She recommended that I put my name on the item to be notified when the part became available. I did this and was notified within the month that the item was available. It shipped the next day.
That's great to hear! I like their actions and they have been a great company to deal with. That said, The Zermatt long magnum action I bought is made extremely well. We'll see how I feel about it when the barrel gets here.

My guess is that those commenting about barrel life can read all the negative posts about how VIHT burns out barrels but probably have little to no experience using it themselves. I use from 100 series in my 45-70 and 7PRC to 500 series for my 6.5 and 300 PRC. I've got well over 1000 rds on my 6.5 PRC barrel and it still drills it. I shoot a fair share and haven't seen any issues with that powder any more than I've seen with IMR/Hodgdon powders. If you load heavy because you're a speed junkie you're gonna see limited barrel life with any powder you use pure and simple.

I have been reloading for a very long time, I am familiar with most of the powders out there on the market. But....when it comes to VitaVuori this is one that I have absolutely no exposure to at all. I think that I have some N130(?) on the shelve down there, I "think" that it was for a .375 Raptor that I built some time ago!! The powder seems to be quite diversified, however I do not exactly know where to start with usng this powder. I know that this ought to be simple, however I have been having difficulty making the jump into the Vitavouri powder arena. It seems like there is not that much difference between the burn rates of the various powders? Anyone using this powder and what has been your experience using this powder. There seems to be a lot the various burn rates and availability seems to be good. I do load for the .223/5.56, .270AI, 30-06, .308, 45-70 and .450 Bushmaster. I did call Vihtavouri and I do have a catalogue coming from them.
VV 133 excellent in .223, 20 practical and .221 fireball. VV 540 excellent in .308. I am currently using VV 570 in 7mm PRC. Very clean burning powder. Used to be more expensive import but Alliant and Hodgdon powders are often more expensive lately. Very nice metering too

Bad guess. "100 series" and "500 series" doesn't exactly nail down the powders you're using. Some of the hotter 5 series powders definitely increase erosion. Good ole 555 works great in my 6.5PRC. 565 also works great in my 6.5 PRC (555 is better) but it's a tad hard on the barrel according to my borescope. F Class guys and gals are a good source of info when it comes to which powder is harder on a barrel than others.
