I don't have a 25-7PRC, but I can't imagine a cartridge that overbore having good barrel longevity. Any time you build that much pressure in that confined of a space, you will almost certainly erode the throat quickly, regardless of powder.

L!I have a 22" 25-7prc with 400 rounds down the tube .I the measured throat erosion of .040 after 200 rounds using N570. Switched to H100 and then measured the throat after an additional 200 rounds and had only lost an additional .020. Powders do make a big difference. It runs suppressed and the fire cracking at the muzzle shows it, but seemly no loss there.

I just can't get over .532" diameter, having had such good results at .551 and .555
I did mention it to a certain guy a while back about introducing a new line of cartridges that were quite a bit longer than WSM instead of just a little bit longer..

And yes I do have the .277 version already so that kinda stopped me. I keep learning back towards the 25-7prc but then with my 257 Blackbird being a ballistic twin i think I just need to put a 7 twist barrel on it and calling it good.What capacity difference is there versus 257 STW?

I can remember back around 1975 when guys at our local club were asking, "you are shooting a what"? My 25-06 was pretty lonely in them days. One member even told me that a .25 caliber would never work out and that I should have gotten a 270.
