Thinking of putting one on a hunting rifle and haven't been able to look at this model in person. Thanks to anyone familiar with this model. Like my other NF's.

It does not, both the 4-16x42 and 4-16x50 both do not tunnel at all from my experience. I prefer the 42mm variant of the 4-16's because they have locking turrets where the 50mm does not. Not a big deal for the locking mechanism itself imo, but the locking turret is much lower profile which I like. Doesn't catch on as much stuff. The 42mm is very bright due to great glass.

Thank you Rifleman! Good to know. I like the look of the 42mm also but wanting 2nd focal on this one.
Understand wanting 2nd focal plane, but the 4-16X42 in First focal plane in the ATACR has a reticle that is useful in all of the power range…..unlike a lot of other FFP scopes out there. Just saying.

I'll second this. I'm usually a SFP guy since I am usually either at max mag or minimum mag, rarely in between, but the 4-16 I have in F1 and it's usable at both ends. Not saying OP would be "wrong" to get SFP, but this is one of the scopes where F1 doesn't really have much of any downside. Especially with the right reticle like Mil-C or Mil/MOA-XT, the fine cross hatches, at minimum mag, make the reticle appear much thicker than it is. When you zoom in the hashes become distinguishable from one another and become a very precise and usable reticle.

If you like your other NF's, the 4-16x50 F2 will feel like home. No tunneling. Buy with confidence, but budget for quality rings and check your bolt clearance with that 50mm bell.

I have the 4-16x50 SFP ATACR on my 280 AI. No tunneling. I love this scope. My favorite of the other four NF scopes I have.
