Standard group size?

Hey guys, i just got into rimfire and was wondering if this is within the standard for group size?

Good group but you're better off backing out to at least 100 yards when looking for group sizes.

Edit: Derp....nevermind. Missed the whole rimfire/airgun thing. Don't mind me. Very good group!

For a 22 rimfire that's nothing to be ashamed about. When you get to 100 yards with a 22 it has to be a PERFECT day if your shooting groups. I generally shoot my 22 at 50 and my 17 hmr at 100 if I'm shooting for groups.

Yes that's good for a factory 22. My cz will just do SubMOA on 10 shots with preferred ammo.

17hmr seems like a good practice rifle.
What kind of groups will a 17hmr get at 100?

Depends on the ammo. Most 17 grain ammo shoots .5 moa to 1in. Probably favoring towards the .75-1in more than .5moa. My rifle loves the 20 grain and shoots right at .5moa or under on a good day.. Depends how the wind is that day. My best group with my 17 was .234 for 4 shots at 100.

Its a Ruger Precision shooting hornady 30gr vmax's..... its the first round ive shot in it, havnt tried anything else....

It's good for 50 IMO.

My Savage likes the waxy rounds like Lapua, Wolf Target or SK.

Less than .5 moa at 100.

Eley And about 15 other types as bad as 1.75-2"s.

So you might be able to locate something that tightens it up.

If you are interested drop by a small bore rifle silhouette match. It is shot all standing off hand at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. 40 rounds per match, per gun. But you will need a 100 yard 40gr bullet to be 100% on a ram. Reactive targets are a fun match.

Try a Federal 40 gr solid, copper plated LR if it looks good get a rim gague and sort. Get a real center fire scope with repeatable adjustments for that Ruger. If you want to shoot competition by class you need sight adjustments that remain constant.

Are you shooting a 22 Mag? That is the only rimfire that loads the 30 gr V-max?
