How are you new members finding us?

I found you purely through browsing, running a Google search on "longrange" I believe. This is an opportunity to say that this is a wonderful site. You can't get this first hand, state of the art, interactive information in any book, magazine, video or any other imaginable format. Folks here...

    .280 Improved to what?

Thanks for the feedback so far. I'm not sure if I made it clear that I'm interested in hunter class, long range Silhouette shooting, about which I know little. I've heard though that lighter bullets and loads don't knock 'em over, but magnums aren't allowed. Is the .280 too much still? Thanks...

    Need Caliber Selection Opinions

Jim, Your question (best cal. for LR deer hunting) is one of the huntcamp favorites for which there are many answers, most of them more or less correct. Were I wearing antlers, I would not want to be standing in front of anyones' recommendations. So for the fun of splitting hairs, I'll add my...

    40mm or 50mm?

While looking at high end scopes, check out Schmidt & Bender's PMII 4x16. It makes most other scopes look like toys by comparison.

    .280 Improved to what?

I've got an old Gale McMillan made Signature in excellent condition with a .280 Rem., 24" cut rifled barrel with a heavy contour. The rig wears a Leupold 2.5x8 VariXIII and meets the weight limits for the hunter rifle class for which I'd like to use it. Given this limited information, what...

Sierra MK's Ballistic Coeffecient: The Truth Wanted

Re: Sierra MK\'s Ballistic Coeffecient: The Truth Wanted Is there any experience with the 150grain, 7mm Swift Scirocco yet, with an advertised BC of .53? Based on balistics tables, this BC combined with the increased muzzle velocity of the lighter bullet make it look very competitive with...

A Blast from the Past (11mm)

Anyone out there have any good load recommendations safe and effective for 11mm cal. M71 and M71/84 Mausers? More generally, what's better? Black Powder, Smokeless, Pyrodex, 777, or a combination of a couple of these? Thanks for your feedback. Tommynull

    Reloading equipment

sR90, I've used the Forster Co-ax with Forster and Redding dies for six years now on everything from 7mm TCU to 7mm Rem Ultramag, with flawless performance and no complaints. The ring clamps on the Redding dies are a little loose in the Forster press however, and you might want to replace them...

    If not HS, then whom?

Thanks Nate, I have strongly considered the Sendero. The HS Precison however does guarantee 1/2 MOA for $1850. Granted, this is for "select" match loads. But so much wisdom from this LRH site advocates SMKs for hunting. Then there are the increasing number of high BC plastic tips to be tried...

    If not HS, then whom?

Thank y'all for your feedback on HS Precision. From the mixed responses, I'm not sure what to think. Maybe y'all could futher clarify, or confuse me by telling me where to go for the most accurate out of the box, long range hunter under $5K. Thanks again! Tommy

    7mm UltraMag loads

Does anyone have any load suggestions for the 7mm RUM with the Scirocco 150gr. bullet in a 28" barrel? Is there any experience with Vihtavouri high energy powders (eg N560) for this load? Are there any better suggestions for deer hunting loads for the 7mm RUM? Thanks, Tommy

    HS Precision vs. Dakota Longbow

Dave, I'm in the process of buying an HS Precision rifle. Your specific experience with HS Precision rifles (or anyones) would be helpful to me at this decision point. Thanks for any help or advice. Sincerely, Tommy
