H1000 is a great powder for that class bullet in the 300wm! It likes heavy loads, not light stuff. start a load develop enemy about 2gr off book max and work till you see pressure. Itll "probably" be over book max a grain or so. Load it to your rifle, not a book.
I've shot nothing but 162gr amax and 63.5gr h4831sc for the last 6 years. I tried some retumbo but it shot about where I am now anyhow so figured I'd keep it for later. I get 2965fps out of my 1-9tw 26" rifle
Looking to trade it for now. May sell but not yet, if I have to put a price it would be 800
It's a long action savage stagger feed action
Oversized bolt handle
Boyds thumbhole varminter nutmeg
25" hart stainless 1-8tw, almost 400 rounds on barrel, .250 ptg recoil lug
Set of Hornady dies

I put together a 22/6mm for general varmint destroying. It runs 75gr amax at 3680fps from a 25" barrel. I had a 6mm06 that would sling 105s very well too just got tired of the soft Norma brass. The 22/6mm is a lot more versatile I think, and it flat hammers stuff
I've got a shilen select 25" 1-8tw stainless matte barrel
2 die rcbs set
150 or so pcs formed brass
400+/- 75gr amax OR 490+/- 80gr SMKs
Have 250 rounds through barrel when I finish the box of ammo I have loaded for it.
Run the 75gr at 3680 with 51gr retumbo. I backed it down to 49.5 node...
I like retumbo. I think it can be used in a lot of cases that are overbore. I've shot it in 243 with 107 and 115gr bullets, the 6-06 with 105s, a 22/6mm and my 7 mag and of course 300 wm
I run the 162 in my 7 mag. Kill plent well. Accurate too. Mine likes a good jump
Tried a few with retumbo. Same OAL 72.5 gr
Don't tear up to bad. This was 385yards

Why not go custom? I have a 22/6mm that I run 75 gr amax at 3860 with. My 100 yard zero is 3" low at 400 and 5" low at 500. It's a bit mor price as far as components but it sure is fun. I took it out today and started working a slower load just so I don't kill the barrel in 1000 rounds
I'd look at a 243ai. 6mm bullets are plenty full and won't break the bank. I try to always build off a long action. I did a 6mm-06 and love it with 105gr hornady bthp. Or a 260/AI, I think it's definately a soft shooting round. Mine has no recoil at all but it weights close to 17 pounds
Since you already run a 338 wm why not a 338-06? You've already got half the components ask you wouldn't need to buy more bullets. I put one tower for my dad and he loved shooting it with 185s not so much the 225s and a stiff load.
I have a buddy who shoots for savage. They sent him a BAS 300wm. His rifle shoots the 230 bergers with 73.2gr or retumbo for 2985fps WELL. He runs rederal brass just because we can get it local and cheap
