what is your favorite LR broadhead?

I posted to this thread in 2011. Still a big Slick Trick fan! They flat out perform with little more needed than screwing them on to your arrow! This years bull was a 40 yard shot. I got complete pass through penetration and that was through a front side rib, and the blood trail was massive...

A new guy asking for help choosing a budget scope setup.

Yup, the above! Rock solid durability, repeatable turrets, very good glass, all for a very, very good price. There is nothing more frustrating than having scope issues when shooting. Trying to track down the problem alone is a bear let alone fixing it. Get good, quality glass period is my...

Scope; Best Bang For Your Buck?

For the price it sounds like you want to stay at I would encourage you to get a SWFA and never look back. There are very, very few scopes that I trust for turret repeatability and return to zero but SWFA's are one of them! I would put their scopes against top tier scopes in this category any...

    My favorite sherman

Any updates on this? How is she shooting?

    Which rifle is better

Are you building a rifle off one of those actions or do you want to buy stock and go shoot LR? I am assuming stock? Howa's are great, really great. Not many shoot them but they are one of my favorites and I don't think they can be beat for the price for sure. Their new triggers I very nice...

The Search for the Best Scope

LOL! I would tend to agree. To the OP. Again, I am not stating that other scopes can't work and they sometimes may work. I am giving a list of scopes that I have found to have solid, repeatable performance in the areas most important to medium to long range shooters. That is durability...

The Search for the Best Scope

This scope is what I would do if you don't want to bump your price up like I discussed earlier. This has a 15 year plus history of being a very solid performing scope. It's standard mildot reticle and a 10x fixed power but it is durable and tracks well. in my mind the SWFA's are a...

    6.5x55 swed mauser.

Yikes, I thought I added that info to my post. Guess I forgot. Yes, the new data in the post I listed is for modern actions only, NOT MAUSERS! Scot E.

    6.5x55 swed mauser.

If you want some great reading on what can be done with modern powders and pressures and the new bullets available this is the thread for you! On the first post there is a link to the original thread with even more info. Just be careful in this thread they talk about both the standard swede...

    Beginner scope mounting

I have had no issues on magnums cartridges but I have read on here that some have. So to be safe I mentioned that. 7mms and 300 win mag type cartridges should be fine. I am not sure I would use them on a lighter weight 338 shooting 300 grain pills however. Scot E.

    Beginner scope mounting

Unless you are mounting a scope to a big magnum my first piece of advice would be to use Burris signature rings. They eliminate the marring issues completely and are the best for getting your scope set up exactly as you like. They are a little more complex to learn to use but well worth the...

Burris Eliminator III best game scope on the market?

Gotcha. I don't think very well I guess when it comes to atmospheric changes. I hunt from 2,500 feet to 11,000 feet in all kinds of weather. From 500 yards to a half mile those changes in zero are a big deal. Maybe one gets used to it with some practice. Adding the atmospheric part...

The Search for the Best Scope

I'm not going to lie to you. If you want something you can depend on to not let you down when you need it and not give you fits regarding consistent accuracy and repeatability, there really isn't much in the market at that price range. And if you still want to go that route there are lots of...

Time to buy a Lightweight Elk Rifle

If you are going to shoot a light weight magnum rifle with heavy for caliber bullets then I would suggest reading this and following it to a T. And completely ignore everything shooters typically do and use for the LR game. Bipods, cross arm form, and other standard thoughts are going to give...
