When considering a new barrel would doing away with the longer Weatherby throat length be recommended?

I’ve been working with a Mk V 340 Weatherby. Started out with a couple different 250 grn bullets and grouped at best 6 inches at 250 yds. Tried other bullets with the same results...the 210 Nosler Partition showed some hope with a 3 inch group. This is all after rechecking screws and...

Found lrh while searching data for the 338 RUM. I enjoy learning and the information found here through the forum and articles. The advice found here has helped make better decisions when purchasing my last scope and range finder.
