I should be clearer then, I'm not necessarily actively hunting in the woods, but the rifle may be on my pack or shoulder while walking to the next ridge or bowl that we are going to set up on. Then head off on a stalk.

26" barrel? I'm just concerned about adding 7-9" of length to the barrel and carrying in the woods on an elk hunt.

I have a Browning X-Bolt Western Hunter LR with a 26" suppressor ready barrel. What is the shortest and lightest suppressor you would recommend for this rifle? It is a hunting rifle, mainly elk and mule deer so I could end up hunting in timber or open country depending on the hunt. Would I be...

The .223 I have is a 1/8 twist but only has an 18" barrel. I currently use that rifle as a training gun to work on fundamentals at 100 and 200 yards. It's a sporter barrel that is suppressor ready, currently waiting for one to get out of jail that I will be putting on that.

I don't think it is the end all, be all caliber. This gun is more than likely be a target\range gun only, that's why I asked about .308 and 6.5CM specifically. As for hunting I probably won't go more than 500 yards, so my .300 win mag will suffice.

I shoot at Quail Creek in Fort Worth if only needing 100 yards. 200 yards, I go out to Fossil Pointe in Decauter. ETTS in Maypearl if my wife is taking her pistol classes.
