If the torque has no effect on accuracy, what would cause an issue like he's having? His is a 270. Pillar bedded, action bedded, great trigger. He's a good shooter, known dependable scope.

I have a barrel I'm about to put on. A friend of mine put one on his build a few weeks ago. It shoots cold shot in one spot, second shot 3 or 4 inches straight below. He cools the barrel, same pattern. Both groups are great, just not together. We're thinking it's the nut not on tight...

Does anyone have a definite awnser on how much torque to apply. Internet searches range from hand tight to 100ftlbs. Has anyone done any testing to see which torque produced tightest groups?

I don't have any documentation, but here in western montana, the wolves are thick. The elk seem to be hiding on private land to avoid them. Might be the case where you are looking.

I'm shooting 200gr gamekings with reloader 17. Rifle is shooting 1 MOA. I use the swiss products clamp on mount with a vortex pst. Amazed that an old military gun shots this well. Going 1300 fps at 1000 yards. Check out the swiss products website, lots of accessories.

I use the LFC dies for all my handguns and auto rifles. Never tried it for bolt guns. I appreciate the tips. Tomorrow it's the no 4 mk1's turn at the gongs.

Sounds fun. I have a spot to shoot at gongs from 700 to 1100yds. Have the Swiss products clamp on scope mount. Scoped it shoots 1 inch at a 100. Been shooting 165's but want to try heavier.

Curious if anyone else here shoots one at long range. Have a few, they all shoot great. If anyone else does id love to see your setups. Not planning to hunt with them, just having fun shooting.
