    Coyote hunting with an injury

Currently feeling my way through building a bench to use in a blind. I have the frame built and I am contemplating using my BOG tripod with it. I need a place to put my elbows to give me more stability. So I am thinking my way through that. If I sit on a 15 inch tall bucket and the surface of...

    Coyote hunting with an injury

I have an injury I've been dealing with for a couple years. It makes shooting prone too difficult. I have to deal with coyotes and I have gotten a few but as I stated in other posts, they've learned to stay out of my range. So I'm just getting setup with a longer range 6.5CM rifle. I tried...

    Porcupine down

The porcupines are pretty hard on dogs. This is why I don't let the dogs off leash. At all. I live rural and we have all sorts of serious wild life that will mess a dog up but good. Including Skunks! But the problem is, some of the folks in my area put their dogs out in the yard or on a chain...

ATF sure taking their good sweet time!

So instead of having a stamp, I'll need to carry a copy of this form with me to prove its legality? This approval form, does it allow me to treat the gun like an actual SBR then? I can add a vertical fore grip and everything?

Good old bird. Venerable. In FL? Were you USAF?

    Suggestions for calibre and platform

Y'all remember that half radomed C-130 the USAF used to use to recover balloons? It had those big tongs on the front for grabbing the cable. (We're talking way back). The USAF took those tongs off and gave that bird to the USCG back in the day. Its number was 1451. By the time I ended up in...

Oh you got that right, I keep getting the same reaction from people when I talk about bears/cougars in my area. I get the punitive, condescending declaration....."You could just use bear spray....." Ummmm, NO. Its windy here, bear spray in the wind? No. Also, when an animal that can easily kill...

I need to fire it more for practice but ammo for that isn't cheap.

    Suggestions for calibre and platform

I'm still breaking in the barrel. So far the shooting is good and the trigger is great, its user adjustable externally. The bolt is very smooth and the Federal 140 grain is pretty good so far. Right now I'm discovering that my shooting has really suffered when I got out of shape. I can see my...

    Suggestions for calibre and platform

I tried night hunting. It was not like the gear we used in the Army. I could sort of see more peripheral vision with my NV's. When I tried night hunting, I was looking through the thermal scope, I became night blind when I was not looking through it. Recently we had a major sized bear walk...

Wow, so maybe I should use this box of Aguila for my break in ammo. Hard to chamber?? Thats bad though! That means its sitting right on the lands and grooves right? Some guns don't tolerate that very well. They probly didn't group well for you if you saw those inconsistencies.

Currently testing some different factory ammo out. Tried Federal, gonna try Hornady next. I also have a box of Aguila. All 140 grain.

Whoa. This I never knew. When I heard acetone, I worried that would hurt the barrel somehow.

    Suggestions for calibre and platform

I went with the 6.5CM Bergara HMR Pro. I'm breaking in the barrel now. The Bergara people recommend barrel break in be clean and remove copper every 5 rds, then at 25 rounds clean with acetone. Acetone? I'm not sure I've heard of that before. Anyone use Acetone for barrel break in?
