    Colorado Commissioner Debate!

I hope every resident hunter and angler in Colorado submits their comments in the below link. It only takes about 1 minute and goes directly to the senator in your area. https://www.yahoo.com/news/teller-county-commissioners-challenge-governor-230546204.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall...

San Luis Hills area Colorado elk hunting

It probably matters which private properties the landowner you mentioned owns and the timing and amount of pressure there is on the private. Some private may have 0 elk while others may have more? It is very flat with very few trees close to the refuge. I would definitely get references and...

    Colorado Unit 40 Elk

My guess is that all of the best outfitters in 40 are booked for several years. They may have a cancelation but that would be a giant risk.

Which Colorado unit for trophy elk

I would say 350 in 40 on private may be possible but you are going to have your work cut out for you. Hunting public land in 40 limits you to a lot less land and bulls so you likely won't be able to be very selective. If you do an incredible amount of scouting you may have a better chance at...

    What unit in Wyoming??

Another pretty brutal snowstorm hit most of Wyo with super cold and wind. Hopefully the critters get a break soon!

    What unit in Wyoming??

I would definitely keep track of what happens the next few months in regard to winterkill. Some regions in Wyo are getting hammered by deep snow while it may not be quite as bad in others. Antelope herds across Wyo are about as low as I have ever seen them. Some of this is a combo of drought...

    6.5 PRC for Aoudad??

I would bring a 30 cal. Take a look at the drop at 400+ yards with your PRC. It's likely a lot more drop than most people think. I'm always amazed at all the questions regarding if the creedmor and PRC are "big enough". Well shoot yes they are big enough if you hit them in the right spot...

    Phone as a GPS

What I find horrible about using GPS is the tiny screen. My Iphone screen is around 2 to 3x bigger than my GPS screen. It's really tough to see detail and only a tiny area at a time on a dinky screen. I can see where a small Ipad would be idea for using in a truck and something a tad smaller...

    Favorite Turkey call

Mouth call! Takes time to learn how to use but holy-moly you can do a lot with 1 mouth call. Also, hands are free, no movement when calling, don't have to move back and forth between shotgun/bow and call, less to pack around or loose in the field. Price is another advantage.

    Fall Turkey

Cool putting work into your property and reaping the rewards...especially with your young hunting buddy! I've had the same great luck clearing some of the dense tree downfalls and over-grown vegetation on a property where I work. I found that the young poults as well as older turkeys tend to...

    Looking for first pack.

I've been using and abusing my Kifaru for years and years in Western US plus Alaska. An amazing pack plus frame capable of 100+ loads. You can also customize them to your desired needs with pouches, lids, accessories, and bags. I actually have 2 different bags that I can trade in a matter of...

Thinking about buying a sako s20 in 6.5 prc

Unfortunately the S20 doesn't come in 300 wsm but is available in 300 winchester. I can guarantee that 300 win shells are a lot easier to find than 6.5 prc but that may change with time?

Thinking about buying a sako s20 in 6.5 prc

My son just got a Cabelas demo Sako S20 in 6.5 PRC. His barely had a scratch on it and was an incredible deal. I've heard others since when this was first offered by Cabelas that had a few more scratches on them. My son is 6'4" with long arms. The S20 fits him super well. The S20 model is...

    Where to setup camp

My guess is, if the elk and deer are used to seeing hikers and campers every day all summer at a lake it may not matter if you camp there? Here is Colo we have so many hikers at lakes all summer long that it may not matter. If the lake hardly sees a person all summer and fall my guess is they...
