He is 11 and doesn’t have a long enough reach for any of my rifles that’s why I bought the Youth rifle. Got some snap caps for him to practice with. Thanks for your thoughts.

Tried 55gr Sierra but the jump was .134 which it didn’t like but low recoil.

Reworked the trigger to 3. It shoots 90 gr E-tips good but for teaching a youngster to shoot will get a bit expensive.

Thanks, have some 85gr Sierra bullets, think I will load some up and see what happens.

I’ve checked all of the above. Been shooting and loading for over 45 years but no experience with this brand of rifle. Found out it really doesn’t like bullets 70gr or less. Has a long throat and big jump.

Bought my grandson a H&R Youth Model Handy Rifle in 0243 Win and its not accurate at all, 2.5" group at 100yds. I know it's a very inexpensive rifle but wanted something that was simple and safe to use. I noticed the barrel is really rough, should I use J B Bore Polish on it? Any thoughts...

The die is adjusted to touching, that's when I started using the shim.

I've not had any flaking at all. I have found that if I take some 00 steel wool and twist back a forth a few times on the neck and shoulder and its clean as a whistle.

I was able to purchase 100 rounds of once fired Winchester Nickle plated brass for my 7mm Rem Mag. When I try to full length size I could not get the bolt to close, the head space is wrong so I put a .016 shim between the shell holder and the the brass and was able to bump the shoulder back...

I backed the AB off to .020 and changed powder to H1000 and now shooting clover leaves at 100yds. Just shot a nice buck in Colorado at 290 yds, he dropped like a rock. Thanks for your input.

I backed the load .020 and added a 1/2 grain of powder and now have 2 of 3 touching at 100. I wish I had read your reply before spending a lot of time and components and got no where. Thanks again!
