I finally got my sporterized mauser in 6.5 Swede. The gun is fiited in a Ramline medalist stock. Remington factory ammo did not shoot well and had a light firing pin strike on the primer. Four of the factory rounds misfired. The other once fired brass was neck sized just barely bumping the...
I bought one from a guy that needed some money. It was one of those package deals complete with scope and all in 30-06. I gave the gun to my nephew along with some Remington reduced recoil ammo 125gr. The gun will shoot sub-moa for 3 shots and the trigger is better than the average factory gun...
I noticed that Big Green has come out with the sexy triangle barreled guns in several hunting calibers. Has anyone shot one in 25-06 or 300 Winnie? How does it shoot? Seems to be alot of gun for the money. What are the pros-cons of a trangle shaped barrel?
My favorite load in my Win 70 Classic Sporter is 78 gr 7828 and a 160 Sierra BTHP Gameking. This bullet does not get enough credit for performance. Velocity in my gun is 3263fps. This load holds up well and hits hard.
I have had different experiences with the T/C. In 35 Whelen and 375 H&H there were headspace issues in more guns than not. Full length sized cases would separate after the 3rd loading. Some of the guns would close easily with a no-go gauge. Partial resizing and seating the bullet out as far as...
My son wants to sell his Tikka 300 Win. He had a brake added that is very effective but is much too loud for a shooting house. I have loaded for the gun with 180 BT, 168 CTBT, and 150 AB. The gun has been shot about 80 times. Easiest gun to load for me ever. All loads including factory ammo will...
Hey Limbic, I have some 180 Bergers that I tried in my STW. Can't get them to shoot. You want to buy them or trade. I am in Flora MS. Anyone done the phone book test with a 210 30 cal Berger? I do some deer depredation shooting and man do they do a number on a doe deer in a 300 Winnie.
I have a Ruger 77 .270 lightweight rifle with the thin 20" barrel. The gun is the old tang safety model. It does not shoot that well and I am considering rebarrelling the action. Since I have never played with any of the 6.5 calibers, I am opting for a 6.5x55. My gunsmith is recommeding a 9"...
Since you brought pigs into the picture-95gr Nosler Partition, 42gr H-4350, CCI-BR-2. Shoot for bone in the front part of the animal and I promise there will be a short blood trail if not DRT.
The 210 Berger is a great hunting bullet. I use it in a 300 Win Sendero with a load recommended by Walt Berger using RL-22 powder. I have not had any expansion issues with this bullet under 400 yds. I have not shot a deer with this bullet further than that yet. So far every deer shot has had a...
Ru shooting at game or paper? Paper get a 6.5mm. for long range. The f-class boys prove that fact. I would much rather have a 210 Berger at impact than a 168 7mm. There is no substitute for horsepower. I have used both.
Hey lets keep it practical. What is the fastest round that is readily available and is not a gimmick? I have not seen anything that has a velocity much over 4000fps that has any practical field use. Keep it real.
Hornady has a concentricity tool and dial that is new. I found it on the Hornady website using the search word concentricity under reloading. I heard that Hornady claims that the tool measures and corrects runout. Does anyone have any experience with this tool or know how it works?
I know that the life of a case depends on how hard you push the round pressure wise and how many times you trim the case. You did not mention annealing. If you can, please enlighten your readers of the pros and cons of this procedure as it would be related to this topic. Thanks Chuck
