Lothar Walther brought in a .22 Grendel reamer at my request two years ago and made me an AR barrel that they also nitrided for me. So, they have a reamer. I've not shot it yet. I like LW barrels a lot, especially their polygonal rifled ones.

Question please: is the idea of a .300 Norma Mag Improved in only a 22" barrel nonsensical? Do I need 24-28" for the improved version (with more powder/case capacity) to make sense? I have a Husky HVA in .30-06 that I'm having rebarreled and opened up to feed .300 Norma Mag and I'm wondering...

I like your component list. My only point was that you don't necessarily have to go with a pencil-weight barrel to stay under 5 lbs.

I have a Lothar Walter barrel on my Barrett Fieldcraft. It is fluted and the contour matches a Sauer 202 Lightweight barrel (.630" @ the muzzle). It is 22" long and weights 2 lbs, 5 ox., FYI.
