Two Birds in two States 10 hours

May 1st I hunted with Midwest Outfitters out of Clay City Kansas and took this 20# Rio around 8:30a.m. after coming back to the lodge showering and having some food. Seth (my guide & owner of "CAN COOKER") took my wife and I to his place outside of Big Bend Nebraska where he guided me to this...

    Update on the Super Pigs

The comment on "bonus bacon" is a fallacy, wild pigs don't gain enough fat (especially belly fat where the bacon comes from) to make bacon. They good breakfast sausage and that's about it. Killed a couple on our Texas deer hunt in October, nothing worth taking pictures of but the sausage is good.

$1000 or less Hunting scope advice for Rem 700 30.06

I just put a meopta on my mannlicher stocked 30-06 for whitetail hunting. They make a great scope (for the money) and a private dealer told me that they use Zeiss glass and are made in the Czech Republic saving on labor costs.

    This years hunt

My wife and I took these whitetails in Texas the 1st of October. Yes, hers is bigger than mine. The price of having a good looking female hunting partner, our guide liked her better than me (which is OK by me if you follow my train of thought LOL)

    Florida Turkey & Gator hunt

First and foremost: The Outfitter was: EVERGLADES ADVENTURES (863)599-0086 (Tyler's number, he guided my wife on her gator hunt). His dad guided me for the turkey and to put it mildly he is a turkey whisperer. The accommodations are marvelous and the food is out of this world. Yes we brought...

    Florida Turkey & Gator hunt

The end of March this year my wife and I went to Florida on a husband & wife combo turkey and gator hunt. The results are shown below-18# Osceola tom and her 10 foot gator. Great time.

    Bear rifle model

In response to the bear question, yes. He hangs in my living room over the picture window as that was the only space big enough to display him. LOL He hangs between my and my wife's elk.

    Bear rifle model

In response to the rug question, yes. He hangs in my living room over the picture window as that was the only wall space big enough to display him. LOL I think the attached link is a picture of him & our (my wife's and my)...

    Bear rifle model

Having killed an 8 foot griz in Alaska with a .338 Win Mag and hunting in South Africa with .375 H&H I feel safe saying that either is fine for Alaskan Grizzly bears. The real point is make the rifle an extension of your right (assuming you shot right handed) arm-PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE and...

    375 H&H Dangerous Game build?

I realize that the original question was about a custom build, but I bought and used a CZ 550 Safari in 375H&H for my trip the Africa ten years ago. That was before "brakes" were common and with a decent recoil pad it was EVERYTHING that I could have dreamed of-VERY manageable recoil, not too...

5K to spend, best place to go on a guided hunt?

Just my opinion, but look into Bucky Adams at Peribonka Lodge in Quebec Ca. Great price, great food, and "LOTS" of bears with decent size (no cubs). www.buckyadamsoutdoors.com

1994 Ruger M77 Mark II 338 Win Mag w/boat paddle stock value

I really don't know what all the recoil complaints are about; I bought one in 2001 put a "GOOEY" recoil pad on it and have killed a 7 1/2 foot Alaskan grizzley, a 380 B&C elk, an American bison, a Quebec back bear and an Idaho mule deer with it. The pad tames the recoil to almost nothing and it...

    338 build.

My only advise is to NOT make the mistake that I made on my edge build and no matter which stock you chose opt for the adjustable cheek riser option. I didn't and have regretted ever since. Long range shooting requires consistant eye relief/placement and having an adjustable check piece makes...

What binoculars and power are you all using for hunting and scouting in open country

I may be old fashioned but I have used Steiner 10X50s from Alaska to South Africa with very good results. The zero to infinity focus is really useful (at least to me) when glassing for game (no fiddling with a focus ring while trying to stay on what I am looking at). Just my opinion.
