    Substituting powder and gas checks

You've helped me put together a plan for substitution, unless it has a serious defect that I'm not aware of right now. I'll select an available powder as close in burn rate to the one that I want to use as I can get, then use bullets that are alike or similar in type and weight, or lighter. I...

    Substituting powder and gas checks

Is there a safe procedure for substituting a different powder for ones we find in the published recipes? I'm pretty conservative when it comes to loads, and don't really know much about experimenting, but am having difficulty (like everybody else!) in finding the powders called for in these...

    Bullet runout, concentricity, and precision.

Does anyone know of a very factual, authoritative book or article(s) on bullet runout? Best tools to measure it, how much is too much, what effect, what can we do to fix it, if anything? P.S.--I've learned so much reading what you guys have to say about things. Thanks very much.--Bill

Wtb adjustable rear peep sights and front sight tool

Thanks. I had previously looked at this site, but didn't understand their description of the sights for my Marlin 1895 and 1894s. I hunt piney woods at close range, and practice with other rifles at the range for the day that I will hunt antelope, mule deer and elk with my son. I hope!

Wtb adjustable rear peep sights and front sight tool

I hunt hogs at under 150 yds and have discovered that I see well enough to use peep sights on my lever rifles. I can't find a place to order aperture sights with windage and elevation adjustments, or a tool to move front blades without beating on them. Any suggestions?

Wtb adjustable rear peep sights and front sight tool

I,ve discovered that I see well enough to use peep (aperture) sights on my lever rifles for hunting at under 150 yds, but I can't seem to locate sights with both windage and elevation adjustments, plus I hate beating on my front sights to align them. Any suggestions?

    Looking for a multi-purpose 35 cal bullet.

I really appreciate your feedback. I've been trying to find a standard powder and standard bullets for my handloading so I can buy in bulk. I'm just trying to stretch the idea too far. Today I'll order your recommendations, as they make a lot of sense to me. I am concerned about your comment...

    Looking for a multi-purpose 35 cal bullet.

I would like to load using a single bullet for a .357 mag Marlin 1894 lever gun, a S&W .357 mag revolver, and a .35 Whelen single shot rifle. If I can find one handload for the Marlin and S&W, I'll really simplify things. The lever gun requires a flat nosed bullet, and I intend to use the 35...

    brass annealing and case length

Hi--Just getting started reloading, have gotten to the point I would rather load than shoot! I'm having trouble getting my cases trimmed to the same length--different by as much as .008. Even bought a new trimmer, tho I think nothing wrong with the old one. The brass is sometimes soft and...

.357 mag rifle for hogs and deer?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a long haul trucker and don't see my email for a week or so at a time. This also makes it hard to deer hunt during a short season. Hog hunting is the ticket, I think--year round opportunity. You didn't say exactly which rifle you use in .357. I would like to...

.357 mag rifle for hogs and deer?

Hi--I'm very new to shooting and reloading--at this point I hold the franchise on ignorance. I like handloading practice pistol ammo for my four grandchildren and myself in .38 Spl and .357 Mag. I'm thinking how convenient a .357 mag lever rifle would be if it is powerful enough for hogs at...
