Found one I think might be right for me. I know it's too much scope for what I can do but this way I won't have to buy a better one later. Vortex PST-43127. It's a 6-24x50 ffp illuminated reticle ebr-2c. This way the hold offs are there for me. Any comments or other suggestions appreciated.

Sfp is all I've used. Wouldn't be against ffp though.

I'm all for saving some money, but if I did ever want to go out further I would have to go with his. Also I believe the 4-16 is a second focal plane rather than a first. I think the 6-24 is the winner. Thank you for responding!

Thanks for the insight. I agree that 24" would be fine for a .308 but I'm looking at the 300 wm. I am leaning toward the 700p because of price and availability. Would this be as fid of choice as say the savage long range hunter, or the ruger magnum hunter?
