Iv always struggled with distance of my tests. Everybody said 100 yards but i have hhad Loads that barley shoot moa at 100 and and at 300 +, 1/2”. I will definitely go further out and like you, increase groups to 5. This is a hunting rig like yours. As long as it hits to 600, I’m good.

It is lapua brass. Fired 4 times. I FL resize. BR2 primers, V 565. I appreciate all the help. I will load again test.

I went to the range today to do a seating depth test for my wife’s 6.5-284. I had three depths .015, .030,.045. The only one that shot good was .015 off lands. At 100 yards it shoot 4 shots in a dime. But the SD was 29 and ES was 13.2. Does a guy just stay with this group based on group size and...

I’m getting a 7 PRC with a 20” barrel for mountain hunting. I’m sticking with the 168 so keep a happy medium with speed. Iv guided for 18 years and grew up hunting elk. A 168 VLD is an elk killer.

I agree! I use to drive my self nuts with group size and then decided to start shooting practical hunting situations. I am fortunate to have an area in the mountains where we can hike and train physically, but also set up and shoot out to 1000 yards and beyond. Laying prone, sitting, side hill...
