If you use a muzzle brake, the report from dirt and earth is very noticeable. You don’t want to be shooting in sandy or dusty areas for long. If you mean muzzle flash, there’s none I’m able to see during shooting light hours. It’s quit a bit louder to shoot short but the handiness you gain from...
Part of the reason I switched to a 300 wsm and RL 16 was powder burning. It should produce the same results as 300 wm but with less powder in shorter barrels I’d think. And fill the case better. RL 16 is also faster burning than 23 or 26. Needs less barrel to work well. It only gets shot with...
I had my tikka t3x super lite 300 wsm cut to 21” just in front of the flutes.
I shoot this rifle with my harvester attached so bare that in mind. So far I’ve been using nosler brass, and Reloader 16 although 23 is high on my list of stuff to try. Currently I’ve got a load for 185 Berger classic...
I bet you’ll be happy. If you hand load try using some faster powder. I like RL 16 with bullet weights up to 190. It’s pretty good for the short barrels crowd imo. You could try H4350 as well but I bet RL 16 would yield higher velocities. I am also inclined to try RL 23 sometime soon.
Cut my factory tikka barrel to 21”. I run the harvester on mine. I use 168 Nosler ablr at 3050 FPS and a 185 Berger classic hunter at 3000 FPS. 600 yards is about 3.2 mils. That will smoke anything to 600 and probably fine to about 800 yards. I love this super lite hunting rifle that I can use...
I cut my tikka barrel to 21 inches and shoot with my harvester. I have a 190 ABLR going 2905. And a 185 Berger Classic Hunter going 2998. This thing is very accurate.
Have you seen the 6.8 western? Do they chamber in that yet? Very very similar to 270 wsm. I have a 300 wsm but I also want the 270. Buy what makes you happy. Every time you open your safe door you’ll smile.
Good info. Looks like your in a zone at .130 .140. Now just when you think you’ve got it all figured. You load some at .135 to split the node, go test, and end up way outa wack! Just kidding, that’s what happens to me your going to be dialed.
I can tell you I couldn’t figure that bullet out in my 7 rem mag. I may try a different powder because I want that 168 to shoot. My tikka 7 mag is digging the 162 eldx bullets.
I keep trying the ABLR in every rifle or barrel before any other bullet. I just want them to work and I like the challenge maybe. Plus who doesn’t like working on a load. Maybe I’m or we are to picky and demand match winning accuracy out of the hunting bullet. I’ve given up on tiny one hole...
