I know this may seem like a stupid thread to create but I was looking for some answers from people who have been hunting for years. When do you all tend to start seeing hunting sales? Not exactly the prehunting season sales which are like 15% off BUT the sales where stores really start cutting prices...especially on higher end gear? Here in NY bow season for deer opened Oct 1st and Rifle is November 16th-Dec. 8th and then muzzeleloader and late bow go from dec. 8th to Dec 17th. Will stores around here like Dicks sporting goods, start their sales maybe before black Friday...or do they wait until after the ENTIRE hunting season even muzzle loader? What do you all see in your areas? Thanks everyone!

I am in Montana and usually the sales are random. But the only times I truly see sales is when they are closing out items, because something new is coming. Otherwise they drop the prices and what don't sell they keep. Currently with the way things are, the shelves are pretty bare so don't expect much for big sales.

The hunting sales I see tend to be on low end items. Propane, shotgun ammo, coolers... Rifles, scopes, backpacks tend to be intermittent year round based upon manufacturer availability. High end clothing may be an exception and those are more seasonal more-so than tied specifically into a hunting season. Online is probably the best place to find good prices on high end gear.

I see what you are saying. That's weird though because the 2 Dick's sporting goods near me are still packed with things like under armour camo and scent lok...higher dollar ones at that. I Stopped in Dick's last year on black Friday, and yes it was pretty scarce for hunting stuff, I still found a 90 dollar scent lok hoody for 20 bucks so I was wondering if maybe they had sales before black Friday as well but i guess not.

Thank you guys for your responses. I am looking to replace my coveralls this year with a hunting jacket/bib combo of decent to higher end quality and thought it might be worth waiting till after season hunting sales. I got these coverals 2 years ago which is when I first started hunting. I havent shopped much so I wasnt sure if there were sales or not.

Usually January. The SHOT Show and ATA Show are then, and new products are coming out. The seasons are done, and the inventory is just taking up space. Our local shop always has a great sale then.

If you don't see a sale, you can probably at least deal with your local (non-chain store) retailer once you see the manufacturers announcing an "all new" lineup after the shows. The clock is then ticking on their floor.
