Rcbs charge master ???????????

I have a rcbs powder scale (digital) and I need to know if you use this scale and have had this problem . If I set the scale to 85.5 grains it will throw 85.6 then It will throw 85.7 usually no more that one to two tenths higer or lower then what I have it set on . So do you have this problem ? If so what can I do to fix it ?

Couple of things off of the top of my head which might help. First let it warm up to at least 30 minutes before using, second calibrate it daily/often with suppled weights.

Our hornady does the same thing with stick powders like h1000. If you slow down the speed it usually helps. I usually just set it one tenth under target load and then top it off with the old spoon tap trickling method when necessary.

Find a plastic drinking straw and cut off a piece about 1 1/4 inches long. For the chargmaster you will need a pretty large straw like from a drive through extra large drink. Place the cut piece of straw in the powder dispence tube leaving about 3/8" sticking out. If it fits loose use a small piece of maskng tape to hold it to the tube.

Fixed!!

It still may miss one once in a great while but when it does I just reach in the pan wih a finger and take out a few kernals and drop them back into the perfect reading. The reason it does this with powders like H-1000 is that 2 kernals are 1/10th grain. A lump will form and when it only needs a tenth it gets 2. The straw makes it as close to perfect as you can ask for.

Yes Sir, It aids in lining them up so they can drop one kernal at a time.

I use Varget and havent had the problem of over and under charges. Sometimes it has to sit and "think" to trickle that last .1 grain...but it gets it. I also dont run mine in any fast mode....and I calibrate every time it gets turned on.

rarely it will still drop a tenth more but a tiny spoon or a Lee dipper and remove a couple of kernels and you're dead on

Or you can set the dispenser to throw short and pull off a few kernels with a sharp objects

I've had the McDonald's straw in my Chargemaster as long as I've had it, it definately helps. Another good tip, the next time your at the grocery store go down the laundry aisle and grab a can of anti-static spray. Use it all on/around the measure/scale and it drifts noticably less. I've used dryer sheets for years to wipe down powder measures/funnels/etc. to get rid of the static stick but the spray is easy, cheap and worked better on the Chargemaster. Not my idea, saw it on the internet a while back.
