Need 15-20 MOA base

Been searching this great thing called the internet looking for a 15 to 20 moa base for a Winchester Model 88. Mounted a scope and had to raise the POI 18" to match POA. Dont like losing that much adjustment if I dont have to. Oh, using Warne QD rings. So I would like to stay with a base compatible with those rings. Is anything out there that you know of?

Try using a shim or two under your base. That is what I had to do on two different mod. 88s. It worked fine. I used the plastic shims from Burris, but brass ought to work just as well.

don't know what base you have now but the burris rings with inserts would give you about 10 or 20 moa if you have a weaver or leupold style base.

Possibly found one with EGW. Forty bucks aint bad if it works. Have an email in to them asking if it will work with my Warne rings (weaver style base)
Not a done deal by any means. Will go with shims if I have to. That said. How many thousandths would I have to raise the back end of the base to gain my 18 moa back?

Howdy,

The generally accepted rule of thumb is each thousandth equals 1 moa. That is of course assuming a 4 inch difference between front and rear ring. If I remember right, the model 88 sets up at about 3 to 3.5 inches. Either way, .015" of shim should get you in the ballpark. I used one shim of that size on the ones I did.
