Hi,
I'm Isaac Pile, born and raised in Kansas. I joined the Navy straight out of highschool and am currently on my 3rd tour in the sandbox. I am a 240B/M2 machine gunner in a Convoy Security Element. I am on my 4th year of enlistment.
I am blessed to have a wife that supports my passion for firearms and a son whom I hope will follow in my footsteps. I grew up working/shooting at a gunclub (trap & skeet). I also developed an obsession with rifles and pistols several years back. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoy experimenting with handloads for my rifle, pistol, and shotshell cartridges.
Being on deployment, I don't have access to my personal firearms so I spend my spare time reading and researching about guns online. I've found that this site provides some of the most interesting, unbiased, and educational imformation, so thanks for all the great input!

Welcome! And thank you for your service!
There are quite a few other current and ex military here, they should be chiming in shortly.

Cool
I got a few friends in country now, not sure of their AOs at this time. You going to re enlist you mentioned your in your 4th year. After my fourth year in the Navy I was real sick of it got the heck out and ran as fast as I could to the Army. THey gave me my own machinegun and no watches or duty sections and I never swabed anything again.

No plans on re-upping, I'm pretty tired of the desert and leaving my family for 9 months at a time. I plan to finish out my 5 year contract and hopefully get into law enforcement.

Greetings Kansas Cowboy. Keep safe and thanks for your service!

What part of Kansas do you call home?

I'm on Leatherneck too. I have been here for about 9 months and am on my way out the door. but its good to know there's other service members out here with me that share the same interest. I just cant seem to find them.

Dieselbuilder, I grew up in Butler and Sedwick county outside of Wichita.

Redneckromeo, what unit are you with? I'm attatched with NMCB 4 (seabees) on camp Krutke, you've probably seen us around since there aren't very many of us. I will finish up my 9 months in February. I know what you mean, it's tough to find people that are truly interested in guns and shooting.

I'm with II MEF. yah i seen you guys around. actually been the seabees compound a couple times trying to get them to do some work for me.
I have found a lot of people that are interested in guns but everybody seems to be on this "black gun" phase. i own an AR but i still love my bolt guns. seems like all most of these guys want is a new AR and a new Glock. its hard to talk about long range shooting and hunting when they only shoot paper and at very short distances.

I hear ya. Walnut and deep blue finishes are what catch my eye, not matte black and plastic. I'm also a fan of guns that only do things that I control (repeaters). I suppose having carried a black rifle for Uncle Sam for so long has caused me to be a little prejudiced towards AR's.

sounds like you got a pretty level head on your shoulders. would have been nice to know there's someone that likes real guns out here about 8 months ago. but on the bright side, it looks like ill make it back to NC for a solid 5 days of bowhunting before the season ends

Thank you for your service...I am a former Marine who played in the sand alot. I live and grew up in SouthWest Kansas so I hunt in my own form of a sandbox. When you come home send me a jingle and we will go coyote hunting out by me. Oh and I humped the M60 and actually preferred the firepower that it layed down. LOL
