Zeiss 44 or 50 mm

I am looking at buying a Zeiss 4.5-14 scope with the z800 reticle.Should I get the 44 or the 50 mm obj? can I mount the 44 using med talley rings? Thanks

i use the 44mm., and the only way to know for sure on the rings is to measure your set up, or call the mfg.

the 14x power in a 44mm lense equates to a 3.1 factor number. The average person cannot use anything more that 4.0, and the older you are the less you can handle. I'd say you'd be just fine. But with a 50mm lense your looking at 3.5, and that would be a little better (will be slightly brighter) with about 15% more light transmission. Still not as much as most would be thinking.
