Putin is former kgb and fsb. He also has pretty much become a dictator. Passing laws that allow him to stay in power when he was supposed to be term limited. As for Ukraine yes a lot of people on one side of Ukraine identify as Russians. They even had a Russian puppet president until the CIA got involved and got a pro US president. So it's complicated. But the question is will be Putin be satisfied with sealing the routes up to Poland or into Poland which is Nato. Hard to say. Better to defeat him in Ukraine and not find out. Without western aid Ukraine cant win. They just dont have the people even at a 5-1 ratio of kia's.

I believe Putin will continue into NATO countries, if not stopped in Ukraine. And to stop that would require US troops. I think I'd rather spend some money now and use Ukraine's troops. IMO they've shown themselves to be superior fighters, they just need equipment to help overcome being outnumbered. And the GOP led investigation last year found no misuse of funds at that point, FWIW. We spend a lot of money in less useful ways, in my opinion. Kicking Putin's arse vicariously right now seems like a good idea to me.

See the post above yours for a good synopsis. I'm not in favor of all foreign aid for sure, but it's not quite as simple as stopping all aid being our best interest. Sometimes it goes sideways for sure. The first one I would question is Israel. I'm certainly supportive of Jewish people but the Israeli government is more of a liability to the US than any kind of asset. But that's what all this always comes down to, the governments of these countries. The citizens are mostly just people wanting to live a decent life with their family.

I believe all governments are corrupt, USA and Israel mostly so, but 69precision is spot on, the people are mostly all good in these countries. You are probably right. China and Russia are less corrupt than the USA and Israel govts.
