7 SAUM load data

I agree with everyone that MANY powders will work well in the 7 saum. I currently shoot mine in ADG with a fed 210m and COAL of 2.950 or a little less in a short action…..

H4350 with a 143 hammer hunter at 3050fps
H1000 with a 168 Berger vld at 2820fps
H4831sc with a 180 Hornady ELDM at 2700

I usually back off a bit from max to save my brass since adg is rare these days and hard to replace. My rifle is a 20" proof (which is why my numbers are a little lower) and there is def some velocity left on the table but the steel and paper that I shoot 97% of the time can't tell a difference and my brass lasts longer! The rifle was so much fun I bought a 6.5 SAUM to go with it and it is just as sweet with h1000 and a 140elite hunter at 3100fps.

Okay yall owe....**** it's hot. Finally got around to shooting the N565 and 180's in a one of my rifles. The tested load:

ADG
F210M
N565 @ 65.6 2,960 avg ES 6
2.284" CBTO @ 0.004" into lands

Results at 109 degrees on the Kestrel, Shots in order 12 shot string:

2,999,NR, NR, 3,008, 3,021, 3,015, 3,009, 3,011, 3,009, 3,023, NR, 3,017

3,012 avg with the shots that recorded. 52 fps increase, .881' fps per degree in temp. I wished I could shoot it like at 70 degrees and see also. That may be a while.

Shot suppressed. That can was freaking hot. I had extractor marks, primers flat, the last shot had a stiff bolt. You could definitely tell it was pressured up by the recoil and especially the velocities. Wow. So that 2,960 fps load is definitely on the high side I know that. But I push my barrels. I have a few loads that are milder, in the 2,900 range I will try another day but I'm soaking wet, and I'm gonna stay in the AC the rest of the day and cut a chamber for a guy.

I may load up one of my H1000 loads in it and try to see the difference also.

Looking back at notes the hottest I've shot the any of the N565 loads was 78 degrees still holding it's original fps fyi.

Those will most likely be longer than I can stuff into an AR mag, but it gives me some reference. Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to do this and sweating your *** off to get us this info.

With RL23 and 175's, 59.0 is we're my node was at 2,870. 60.0 was pressure but same hole. Shot well just hot. So get ready to back down. Try N565 at around 65.0 and you will be around 2,940 and same poi. Done this with two 22" barrels lately.
Results:
59.0 R23 = 2,815
59.5 R23 = 2,831
60.0 R23 = 2,879

Group was a nice tiny cluster at 59.5 but went to 1.5 MOA at 60.0.

Not to derail the thread…

Just a note on the RL23 and N560 powders we discussed here in the 7 SAUM and its similarities with 280 AI in load data.
I decided to load 168 ABLR in my AI and tried RL23 and N560.
The RL 23 reached pressure at near the same charge as the 7 SAUM but only got to 2870fps and shot about 1"@ 100 yards.
The N560 was loaded with the same charge as the 7 SAUM and launched the 168 ABLR @ 2975 and put all three in the same hole.

Just another note on loading similarities of the 280 AI and the 7 SAUM.

Ballistic Twins:

7mm RSAUM (short & fat)
280 AI (tall & skinny)

Although I do give a slight edge, ever so slight, to the 7 RSAUM (Roger's Super Accurate Ultimating Machine) in terms of velocity.

My best results over all has been H1000, though I suspect RL26 would give excellent performance as well, in the 7 RSAUM.

Are you compressing the loads at 65 grains of the 565? I've got some to try.

Thanks for the insight on the 7saum. I have some VV565. Think it's worth a try? The RL23 and RL26 are my two "go to's) I'm pretty set with my .280 AI's. Thanks

Well, I already had my loads for the 280 AI and the 7 SAUM but got some RL 26 and N560 in the last few months and have just started trying them out in both cartridges.
For me, the RL 26 has been faster than a few others in several cartridges but couldn't beat accuracy (consistency) in any.
Accuracy trumps for me.

However, N560 has worked amazingly well in both the 7 SAUM and 280 AI for me.

I will also be trying it in my 284 Win soon.

Don't know unless you try… right?

Longtine88 has several posts about how well the N565 works with the heavier 175 and 180's.
I don't have any N565 to try as of now.
