Welcome and greetings from North of the dfw texas area glad to have you on board this is an awesome forum you'll love it too
Oh yeah, not saying it can`t happen, but I`d wager those distances are the exception in the deep South. My experience has been that 200 yards qualifies as a long distance shot. A galaxy apart from Montana, Wyoming, etc., etc. !I was hunting a hay field in Banks Alabama. I could take up to a 550ish yard shot. Funny thing about hunting deer at that distance is they don't mind if you talk on the phone.

Hello Indiana
Welcome from another newbie. WAR EAGLE!!
She looks like she turned out pretty nice!I am new to the forum and somewhat new to long range hunting. I first started shooting out past 100 yards about 6 years ago, got into reloading and built my first rifle 3 years ago. I took a doe with it at 387 yards.
The rifle was a K29 Mauser action, Boyds stock, Green Mountain barrel, Bold Trigger, and a cheap Bushnell Nitro with mil holdover reticle. This was the first and only gun I have cut a barrel and chambered myself. Making the barrel was the easy part but scraping the barrel channel to free float the barrel was the hardest part to me. Overall a fun project though.
