Jill and I were staying in the cabin at our shooting club for an extended weekend. One of our friends was hunting Deer - Archery on the property and a Hog ran into area. He took a head shot but the hog was still standing so he put another arrow through the body. Goes to show how tough they are.

Sometimes a head shot might be the only angle you will get on a hog for a shot with the hog still, and getting them dead is the only goal. Lot's of those that don't live or hunt much in areas where there are hogs don't understand the devastation they bring, if you can get a hole in them somewhere please do and that applies to ALL of them. If your bow is what you have to put a hole in them use it.

Ever been at a Strip Mall and in the back of the Mall there is a dumpster from the Chinese restaurant? Then there are a dozen of feral cats fighting over the scraps. Well, it is getting bad enough that feral hogs are now chasing the feral cats away from the dumpster. They are moving into wherever they can find food. Heck, I have seen them in a Walmart parking lot. I have seen feral hogs in the middle of nowhere and wonder how they got here. We killed over 200 behind our house. We don't have crops for them to destroy, but the eat all the deer and turkey food. In GA where there are farmland it is unbelievable what the hogs can do. You can look a field of crops one day and then the next it looks like several tractors plowed everything up. A group of hogs can rut everything up overnight.
We eat the smaller one and the larger Boars we leave for bating coyotes.

My point wasn't we should start a save the hogs group. My point was that shooting any larger animal in the head with archery equipment has a good chance of leaving an animal running around and changing non-Hunter opinion into anti-hunting opinion. The mass majority of voters are non-hunters. But to each their own. I'm just tired of hearing we don't have anything against hunting but we sa this that or the other thing happen with a hunter so we don't allow hunting anymore.
I will just quit hijacking the thread and be quiet.

Also I would like to hunt some pigs if any of the places they are causing so many problems are willing to let me.

You are absolutely correct. My above statement was made before my brain processed all incoming data.

Yep exactly how liberal hunters think and blame the media and the media blaming hunters. I should remove the picture of my friend's harvest of a feral hog so don't offend and worry about getting negative posts on National News.
I think that 99.999% of the hunters/members on this site never thought about the liberal media taking this picture and making a negative Hunting story.

Edit:
I should have said that he did a body shot first and then a "coup de gras" to the head. Would have been a better story!
