Thanks. Nice gobbler

Buck
Nice gobbler , I miss turkey hunting on my place in west Texas ,and the sound of a gobbler echoing through the canyons on a early spring morning. The drought in 2010 wiped 'em out and they haven't come back ,my place used too be one of the best turkey hunting places in Texas , but not any more.

No I haven't
I used too have flocks of turkey at every feeder , the numbers where unbelievable. One of my neighbors sent me a picture of a gobbler caught on a game cam yesterday , but I haven't seen a turkey on my place in over 10 yrs. The coons and foxes might be a problem, but we hunt and trap them so I really don't know the problem . We have more water on the ranch now than ever.

Brettman, I'm not much of a turkey hunter, but that seems like a long shot with a 20 gauge, especially with #9 shot. Is that your usual load? From what I've read, most people go with #6 or 4. My friend used to use #2's. I'm very curious. I just looked up Fed TSS, and they show $83 for 5 rounds, and they show #9's for turkey. What choke do you use? I am impressed, especially that your 8 year old got it.

Carlson's Longmeadow choke, I forget the restriction. The tungsten stuff is crazy high but definitely worth it. He killed his bird last year at 50 yards. I've patterned the gun to 60 and am confident enough for him to take a good shot to 50.
