Primer dreams

What do you use your 2000MR for?
Shooting heavy bullets in 223/556 AR style it's a fine ball powder that meters very well and gets low SDs high velocity and low pressure and small groups. Good for your 68-77g bullets. Apparently it's also very good in 308.

I picked up 5lbs for use in my 7-08.

I got caught in the first primer shortage backin the '80's. I turned Prepper. After seeing it come around twice more, along with rimfire shortages again my feelings are keep a minimum of 2 years supply on hand. That's two years worth of your actual annual shooting round count. Minimum. Plinking, practice, load development, matches, grandkids, family claybird day, whatever.
Achieve this slowly like stated above. Double your order, pick up half again what you need, grab an extra box when they are cheap. Unless you can afford it. Then just fill the truck up. Hoard it when it's CHEAP.
We had this discussion about two years ago. I told everyone, these are the good old days. Stock up on AR lowers, lower parts kits, ammo by the case, primers, powder, and 22 long rifle. Then I went home and ordered two more cases of 22. Remembered the Obama years. I got by because I had three cases of 22 ammo in the closet.
I got grandkids wanting to shoot now. Pappy gone have some ammo. Always. Probably how they will remember me. Old man always had ammo.

PS, however much you have it's never enough lol. Palletize is my motto.
PSS, I love looking in the background of Jerry Miculek's videos. My hero.

I got caught short in this Covid primer shortage , I'm really upset with myself. I thought I had a bigger inventory of primers and powder but after doing a count I realized I dropped the ball somewhat. I try to keep 5000 of every type I use , I don't shoot pistol much so I keep just small amounts of those and I like to keep a couple thousand of 209's. I'm ok for now but a year of this and I'm worried .

I have been lucky so far, and have had almost everything I've needed, but I don't have enough to shoot like I used to. So next go around, I really want to be stocked up so I can keep shooting on weekends with the kiddos. I'd also like to go do all the prs matches I'd like, without feeling guilty.

Amen to that brother . Sounds familiar to me...

I am available for adoption. Have not had any takers though. I am just not as cute after I turned 60.
I'd adopt you red. I'm only 3 years ahead of you. I'll say you are my step brother :) we need to live a little closer tho. But then again I know you like those long drives every weekend 🥴

thats right stock up be for hand and if people did not see this coming to bad no they set around and whining saying hoarders have it all, bull crap. I will run 1000 round through both long range rifles this summer and most likly will run 1500 through my hand guns, and 1500+ through my M4. I like to shot and hunt so I buy when ever I can befor this crap started

I fully agree.

But, through every shortage I have tried to remember the " less fortunate". The ones that seem to take it to heart that they will never get caught short again. There, but for the grace of God go I. Lend a hand.

The greedy locusts swarming lgs and websites buying everything to resell are starting to cause chafing. Life in these modern online times.

I did my part for friends and people who came into store that hadn't prepared . Some came to me 3 times for different primers . I got fed up with people that had as much or more Reloading time than me that would go buy primers when they ran out. Something tells me that a grown man should be wise enough to prepare no mater if food , water , powder or primers . There comes a time when you have to prep for yourself . I did my charity part. Let others learn there own lesson like I did in the 90's. If they don't then God help them .
