Any ideas on what action would be best for a 22 hornet or a super hornet. I would prefer a remington action but im open to a good action that is not to costly. Thanks for any input,Bob. Update on this thing is there any of you that have worked with a small ring mauser action g33-40. One of my friends just gave a complete action. And the only mauser action i have worked with is the 98 so again im in the dark. If any one knows how small you can go caliber wise please let me know. And again i would like thank every one who added to this thread.

Remington doesnt make a bolt for a hornet case, that being said I have a bolt that is bushed for a hornet sized case with a sako extractor installed. It is single shot only.
A CZ 527 action is better suited for function and feeding especially if you want a repeater.

ok sherm you just have the bolt or do you have a reciever. if so what is it? i would be open to a single shot. but you are right that the cz 527 would be the way to go but finding a action is probally harder that pulling a tooth out of a bear though the rectum.

Suggestion also be to learn about Blue Dot loads in 223 family size cases. My normal 223 Blue Dot load pushes 40 Vmax at 2900-3000 fps and low SD and superb a

And superb accuracy. Then you can use Rem 700 rifle for your build. This is handloaded and does require you being careful when loading your loads.

No it is a 223 action that the bolt is bushed and has a single shot follower installed also.

I know a guy who has a BAT action that has a hornet bolt face. I guess they dont list one on there web sight but if you call they will make one.

CZ, Zastava, Browning, Howa Mini, Anschutz, Krico, Cooper all make quality actions for 22 Hornet. Ruger and Savage also make them but I would take the Savage over the Ruger as the Ruger has a lot of bolt issues that need to be dealt with to get them to shoot well.. It is far cheaper to just buy a CZ 527, Savage or or a Browning Mico already built as a 22 Hornet than to build one from scratch and you won't likely improve on their accuracy. I have CZs that will easily shoot under 1/2 MOA at 200 yards. Here is a picture of a Browning Micro target at 200 yards with hand loads. (Target squares are 1/2" per side, not the usual 1")

CZ would've my pick I had one loved it just didn't fit my fancy with a magazine hanging from a classic looking rifle. Great action and nice set trigger.
