28 Nosler Brass trim length

In the past when possible I like to trim my brass to be as long as possible which is usually .010 shorter than Saami Brass length. Sammi designated length for Nosler 28 brass is 2.590 so I would normally trim to 2.580 if possible. However the New Nosler brass I buy is pretrimmed to 2.575 for the most part within .001.

Obviously I can't trim it to 2.580 right out of the box, so my question is, as I use it, should continue to trim to Noslers original trim length or should I let the brass grow out to 2.580 as I reload it?
Assuming it will grow that much after reloading a time or two.

Actually just started Thursday w/ break in on mine. I see no reason to not let it go to 2.580. Short necked caliber as it is. Headspace more critical.

Just trim it to the trim length stated by nosler when it expands far enough

Appreciate the advice Rhett and Dmagna.
That was part of the problem. I have no idea what Nosler states as the trim length and still don't. Was just guessing 2.580 based on previous reloading experience reloading other calibers.
I haven't noticed neck length being being a real problem but I sure don't want to make the neck any shorter than it is already. Using slow burning powders the more neck length the better to a point anyway if compressing a load. That's my thinking anyway.

Always. Load development is always a challenge and the satisfaction when you get there is tremendous! Just consumes a lot of time unless I get real lucky.

I totally agree with ya Rhett - Sometimes getting lucky includes asking around. One kind gentlemen shared his successful load data with me using Retumbo powder so no workup at all. With the bullet I used I was getting .5 and under 3 shot groups. I wasn't quite satisfied with the Velocity though as I couldn't get the same velocity with my gun as he did. Uping the load was showing signs of pressure so ordered some 8133 which per Fed-Ex should arrive Monday. So will have to work up a load for that but I look forward to it. Was getting 3523 per my Magnetospeed but think I can maybe crack 3600 fps with the 8133 and 143 gn hammers. I wasn't burning up the barrel fast enough with the Retumbo.

So far I've just run 40 rounds of 175GKs under Retumbo for break in. Got lucky enough to pick up 3 lbs of VV-570 when it showed up. Also have 8 lbs of 8133 to work with. Next outing will be 180 VLDs w/ 8133. Then we'll get the 195s out w/ VV 570. Mine is a pushed throat too.
Got some 199 Hammers loaded for my RUM and 121s for my 25-06. Need to go play w/ them too. Not enough time.

2.57 is the trim length
Appreciate that info much Dmagna.
Wow. That suprises me. With the 28 Nosler sammi length at 2.590 that's a full .020 shorter than Sammi. For what it's worth my older Barnes reloading manual which came out before the newer Nosler rounds were invented shows all their recommended trim lengths to be only .010 shorter than Sammi, even for the 300 ultramag. So I am very suprised Nosler recommends double that?

You really do some serious reloading there with all the good guns, bullets and right powders. I'm not multibrained enough to load more than one gun at a time.
